quit claim deed- does this "overrule" loan agreement?

Posted on: 04th Dec, 2013 10:35 am
hi- my ex signed quit claim deed in NJ about 10 years ago- notarized filed etc and house in my name only since then. As part of divorce 15 years ago, supposed to pay him 30 grand when kids turned 18 or I sold house. Well, he "coerced" me to sign loan doc about 3 years ago( I know- should have never signed it) now wants the 30 grand plus 5% interest- so basically 60,000 now. Does this quit claim deed he signed mean anything or am i stuck with paying this jerk this money now... Please advise. thank you!
Hi tasha!

Welcome to the forums!

If you have signed the loan doc, then you are liable for paying the money. You can speak to an attorney and take his opinion in this regard to know if anything can be done to avoid the situation.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Hi tasha,

I agree with what Sussane has said. I guess now you are stuck with paying the money.

Thanks
