My ex boyfriend and i purchased a home together and then split 4 years ago. In January of 08' he signed a quick claim deed to me and i refinancied the home at the same time. The problem is is that he is still on my deed because the auditor never got the deed information to take him off. The company i refinacied with is looking for the paperwork but i was wondering if the paperwork is unable to be located as well as him what can i do to get him off the deed?
hi tararose!
welcome to forums!
you've mentioned that your ex transferred the property to you in 2008 by signing a quit claim deed. in that case, the property should be in your name.
didn't you record the deed at the county recorder's office after he signed it you? if not, then you might have to get in touch with him and ask him to sign the quit claim deed again and transfer the property to you.
feel free to ask if you've further queries.

I do not know where my is currently living or have any way of contacting him to sign the quit claim deed again. I was wondering what my options are and if an attorney can assist in removing his name if he can not be located?
Hi Tara,
You should contact a real estate attorney and he or she would guide you in removing your ex-partner from the property deed. He would let you know how you may remove him from the deed if he cannot be located.
Thanks
