Help about Quitclaims

Posted on: 25th Mar, 2010 06:42 pm
Ly soon to be husband and I live in a home that belongs to his parents. We have complete restored this house and due to FH bankrupct we can not finance in our names as of yet. His Dad is not able to work and at this time we are making all house payments etc. paying taxes and carry a renters policy. Dad now whats us to pay renters dewelling insurance which I think is too high. Can we do a quitclaim to place house in our name so we only have to carry 1 policy and I won't be afraid of losing the house if he does not return to work? Thanks
hi gkh,

as far as i can understand, you will have to ask your soon to be husband's father to sign a quit claim deed and transfer the property in your name. this will make you the owner of the property. then, i don't think you would require to take out a renters dwelling insurance.

thanks
