Power of Attorney and quit claim deed

Posted on: 16th Jan, 2009 09:10 am
I have power of attorney over my mother's affairs, and currently live in our house which she has left to me in her will. She is in a nursing home and suffers from dementia. I may have to sell the house in order to pay for her care. Can I do a quit claim to transfer it into my name at this time, or should I handle this another way?
Hi Michael,

As your mother has given you a power of attorney, then you should be able to sign a quitclaim deed in your name on her behalf. But I would still suggest you to take the advice of an attorney in this regard and then do the needful.

Thanks
