The US Forest Service is going to quit claim some land adjacent to our lot that was incorrectly deeded and recorded as theirs many decades ago. They are the grantor and we are the grantees. This sliver of land will then be reunited with our parcel. Our question is: should we have an attorney working with us? Is there a closing attorney involved? How does title insurance enter into the picture? Is there anything else we should know about this process?
Hi patanddave!
Welcome to forums!
I guess there would be an attorney involved in the whole process from the side of the US Forest Service. If you wish, you can always hire a real estate attorney. He will look into the whole process and check out if things are being executed properly. As far as title insurance is concerned, you need to contact a title company.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
