i need to add my wife to the deed on my house. we were married in 2006 and live in ca. (community property) but would like to have her name on title as well. do i file a quit claim deed along with the preliminary change of ownership report required by the county?
if so, do we need an attorney or realtor to assist in filling out the quit claim properly?.

Hi markeheiden!

A quitclaim deed will help you in adding your wife to the property deed. Once you do so, you need to notarize and record the deed at the county recorder's office. It will be better if you take the help of an attorney in order to get the quitclaim deed drafted.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
