if a property has been forfeited to the federal government because of illegal activity and the government issues a quit claim deed and re-deeds the property, what happens to any previous deeds to that property?
Hi tadbit,
If the government issues a quit claim deed, then the earlier deeds would be considered as null and void in my opinion. However, I would suggest you to contact your real estate attorney and take his suggestions in this regard.
Thanks

Hi,
If the Federal Government issues a Quit Claim deed against you then you cannot do anything. The Government can sell off your property to pay off the dues and if after clearing the dues there is extra money then they may return back the money to you. The best person to give you detailed information would be a real estate attorney. You can also try to speak with the Government officers regarding your financial crisis so that you get easy repayment plan before they do the quit claim.
