hi, my brother quit a claim deed to me, and i paid off ( i paid the mortgage from the beginning, a year before he signed a quit claim deed to me) the mortgage after that. is there any legal document or title form that i need to file to show my ownership? is my brother able to do any document to take it back? what i need to do to protect my ownership?
Hi Lan,
Was the quitclaim deed notarized and then recorded with the county recorders office? If yes, then the deed is legally valid and you are the legally-recognized owner of the property. You need not file any other document. Your brother cannot take the ownership back unless you sign it back to him.
