I think to remortgage the property you need to have your name on the deed. But there are some lenders who might not have any problem with your wife's name being on the deed. As far as the cost involved in a quiclaim deed is concerned it varies as different states charge different amount of fees which include doc stamp tax, recording fees etc. You can get in touch with the county recorder's office in this regard as they can tell you exactly how much it'll cost.
