i got married in 1998, is with my husband 5yrs before. we both worked and bought the house in 98. in 2000, lots of stress and fights, mental abuse. suffering from survere migraines, one day it was the worst. i was in so much pain, and arguing he drove me to the county office and told me to sign a quit claim deed, i went into the office myself. he told me at the time if i didn't sign it, i would be out in the streets with my children. in so much pain, i went into the office and told the officials there i didn;t want to sign but i had no choice and was under duress. they still had me sign it, and had to point to the place to sign it because i was crying and the pain had me seeing blurry. later he said he was wrong for making me do that, then we refinanced the house and he said when we did that my name was on the deed again, i looked it up years later and notice it only said his name. i just lost my mom, and now it's time to right all the wrong in my life, i will leave him if my name is not on the deed as he claims. is it true if you sign another mortgage with refinace you name is added to the deed.
Hi frenchladywriter,

Refinancing a mortgage will not add your name to the property deed. Your husband will have to sign a quitclaim deed and add your name to the property. Once this is done, you will become one of the owners of the property.

Thanks,

Jerry
