my kids are getting a divorce. my husband and i have moved into the house they were buying together. the attorney advised us to put the house in our name . if my kids do a quit claim deed over to us do we have to go thru the refinancing process. we have lived in the about a year and a half.
If you want to transfer the mortgage in your name, then you'll have to refinance the loan. Moreover, after there is a change in ownership, the lender will want the new buyers to transfer the loan in their name or else they may call the loan due immediately.
