My wife is a recent graduate (3 years ago) and has been unemployed since graduating. While the loan for the house is in my name, the title was placed in both of our names. I am current on all my bills but I'm afraid that the debt collectors trying to collect from my wife may attach a lien against the house for her share of the property value.

I probably have a year or more before they even attempt to take this action. If I have her sign a quick claim now to relinquish title on the property will that protect me from forced lien/seizure of the property/
Hi dmoore!

Welcome to forums!

As your wife's name is on the property deed, her creditors can place a lien on the property in order to recover the dues. If she transfers the property to you now, then they won't be able to place a lien on the property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
