A RELATIVE DEEDED PROPERTY TO ME YEARS AGO AS A GIFT. AFTER BUILDING A HOUSE ON THE PROPERTY, I WAS UNABLE TO FILE FOR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION BECAUSE THE GRANTOR RESERVED A LIFE ESTATE ON THE PROPERTY. CAN A QUIT CLAIM BE USED TO REMOVE THE LIFE ESTATE IF THE GRANTOR AGREES.
STACI JONES,
I think a quitclaim deed can be used to remove the life estate if the grantor wishes to do so.
Thanks.
