we purchased our house one year ago, the mortgage is in my name only, but the deed has both of our names on it. will a quit claim deed work in my situation?

A quitclaim deed will work in your situation. You need to get a quit claim deed signed by your spouse. He/she will sign the deed as grantor, signing over his/her interest in the property to you. Then, once you notarize and record the deed, his/her name would be removed from the deed.
