My name and my husband's name is on the deed of our house. I want to remove my husbands name off the deed. Can I use a Quick Deed Document to do this instead of going to a lawyer. I will submit my husband's death certificate as proof.
Hi Rosina,
No, you cannot use a quitclaim deed to remove your husband's name as he is deceased. You need to record his death certificate at the county recorder's office where the property is located and then file an affidavit of heirship. This will help you in transferring the property in your name.
Thanks
