Can I have my name removed from title on my home?

Posted on: 31st Jan, 2009 02:49 pm
is it possible to have my name removed from the title to my home in washington state? can i use a quit claim deed for this? i am on the title but not on the mortgage. we were not married at the time of sale but now are. the home is going into foreclosure march 6th and we are hoping to be able to spare my credit so we can find a home to rent.
thank you!
If your name is not on the mortgage then the liability should not carry onto your credit score even if you are on title. If you were to run your score now, there is no evidence that you are tied to the loan. you may want to inquire with a local real estate attorney to confirm. I have seen threads on this question online so you can search through that too.
