my husband and I are going through a divorce and our home is to be auctioned off on the 2nd of march he gave me the quick claim deed paper work so they I can get my name off of the home so that I can try and save my credit from being ruined. Is it too late? Does he need to sign the paperwork and be present at the the time of notary?
Hi ash,
If your name mentioned in the mortgage docs? If yes, then removing your name from the property deed will not help you in any way. The foreclosure of the property will affect your credit report in a negative way. If your name is not on the mortgage, then whether or not you remove your name from the property deed, your credit will not get affected.
