Can I reverse this mistake?

Posted on: 09th Sep, 2010 05:41 pm
Years ago, when the children were small we had a rough spot it the marriage. The house was willed to me and has been in my family for many years. My husband badgered me into "putting his name on the deed" which is what I thought I had done. Many years later, after the children have grown and left we hit another rough spot and it looks like it may be the end of my marriage. In the course of putting my ducks in a row I find that the attorney back then did not add his name to the deed he quit claim deeded it to him. I want my family home back, can I reverse this? I feel pretty stupid for not knowing what I was doing back then.
Welcome mamasews,

If your husband's name is on the property deed, then he will have to sign a quit claim deed and transfer the property to you. Unless he does so, you won't be able to get the property transferred in your name.
