You do not have to get divorced in order to get a quit claim deed. If you want to get the property transferred in your name, then you can ask the owner of the property to sign a deed in your name. You would be considered as the grantee to the property whereas the owner would be considered as the grantor to the property.

kat, your second post says "no deed." what's that mean?

i agree with adonis, though i'm sure you are asking because you may be in a position where divorce is imminent.
