Can a minor of the age of 8 sign a quit claims deed?

Posted on: 12th Jan, 2011 08:53 pm
my father passed away march of 1998, from what i have found out he left a house and a boat which both had mine and my brother, who he adopted in the marriage to my mother, name's on them. i didnt know that until here recently, ive found 2 public records in which my mom had me and my brother sign over all rights and interest to the properties to her. one was a bill of sell for a boat sold for 10 dollars, the other a quit claim deed in which we both signed. i was 8 years old, a minor. is there anyway in which i can claim back what was rightfully mine considering i was a minor at the time and i was incapable of knowing what i was doing? i have a family member who has told me that my mother made bad decisions after his passing, in how everything was handle. i have been unable to locate a will or a trust.
Hi emilymac!

Welcome to forums!

You will have to contact a real estate attorney in order to find out if you can claim back the property. As far as I know, the chances to get back the property is quite less.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
