Mom passed. There are 5 of us kids. Want younger brother to have place to live but don't want him to loose house. A lawyer did quit claim stating that the brother is responsible for taxes, insurane repairs and that I convey, remise(togive up a claim) and quit claim (transfer without warranty) to you any interest I may have in and to real property. What does thus mean? 2 siblings want to sell and split $ but we don't want brother homeless and two of us are trying to give him somewhere to live but not sign deed in his name sao he doesn't do something stupid and lose house.
Hi Dogwhisper,
You will have to check out as to whose name is mentioned as the owner of the property. If your brother is the sole owner of the property, then you and your siblings will not be able to claim any ownership rights to that property. Also, you would not be able to claim any money from the sale of the property.
