In a divorce is the quit claim deed what is needed to sign over property to the ex-spouse?

in our divorce decree, my ex-husband gave me a piece of property (stated in the decree). we have grown children and are friends - and the property (paid for) bears both our names. i have paid the taxes on it since the divorce (12 yrs ago) - bill comes in my name. i live in ga and the property is in alabama. he told me to just get a quit claim deed (whatever we need) and he would sign it. what do i do? he has another spouse.
thanks in advance for your help!

a quit claim deed would seem to be in order, irene. if you were in divorce court, you presumably had attorneys. didn't the attorneys counsel you on this transaction? or is this something that he and you decided on your own? if the latter, i understand your confusion. but i think a simple quit claim deed transferring his interest in the property to you ought to be sufficient.
