hi, will i need to sign a quit claim deed after my boyfriend and i close on our home? i am not going to be on the mortgage untill we are married and decide to re-finance the home. since i will be paying more then half of the home expenses i would like for my name to be on something just to be secure but i am not sure how to go about all of this. can i just sign the deed at closing instead? any advice will be helpful!
thanks
thanks
Hi,
If you sign a quitclaim deed then the property will be transferred to your boyfriend. I would suggest you not to sign the quit claim and after marriage tell your boyfriend to re-finance the mortgage in his name. By doing that you will remain on the property deed but would be free from mortgage loan.
Hope this will help you.

ok so i wont sign that. is their any other way i can get myself on the deed untill we are married? We are not planning to be married for a few years im just afraid if i invest all this money into the house and with my name not being on anything if something was to happen with us or to him id loose everything. We live in the state of Texas by the way! Thank You.
If you are not on the mortgage that IS how you get on the title post closing. Rita is a little confused. Once on title you will have 50% ownership of the property and your boyfriend owes 100% of the mortgage.
Hi Guest,
As far as I can understand, you will be able to add your name to the property deed though your name is not mentioned in the mortgage doc. Your boyfriend can sign a deed and add your name to the property.
Thanks
