quit claim

Posted on: 12th Mar, 2008 02:27 pm
My daughter has filed for divorce. Her husband wants to quit claim the house to her for $10,000. If she does that and then sells the house
after the divorce is final, will her ex-husband have any claim to any
profit that is made from the sale?
hi guest,

welcome to the forum.

if your daughter's ex quitclaims the property to you daughter then she will be the only owner and her ex will not have any claim on that property. even she sells the house her ex will not have claim on the profit.

btw is it a mortgaged property? if so then your daughter will have to inform the lender and may also need to refinance the loan on her name only.

feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

best of luck,
larry
