My Grandmother is 80 and wants to quit claim her house to my parents just in case her LTC coverage isn't adequate enough to cover her costs if she goes into a nursing home. Is there anyway the state could come after her house if she quit claims the house to my parents?
Hi doubleaday!
Welcome to forums!
If your grandmother quit claims the property to your parents, then she may not be able to receive the Medicaid benefits for the next 5 years. However, if a ladybird deed is applicable in your state, then she can use it to transfer property to your parents. This won't affect her eligibility to receive Medicaid benefits.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
