what are the rights of tenants

We bought a house from a family member, we fell behind and a quit claim was signed. The owner was to take possession of the house on 9-4 and the garage on 9-21 due to some machinery that we required extra time for. The judge put this in an order. The house exchange was fine, however, the garage was entered numerous times without permission. I have been told a couple things by a couple police officers. I want to know, did they have the right to enter the garage or open the garage without permission before sept 21? Is the judgement construed as until the 21st or until all property is out? Did we have until the 21st or not?
Hi Debaroo,

Welcome to the forum.

When there is a court order that the new owner cannot take possession of the garage before 9-12, it means that you have ownership to it till then. But as they have used the garage without your permission, that means that they have violated the court order. In that case, if required, you can take the help of an attorney general for taking legal action against them.

Court ordered judgements are final until modified by another court. They had no right to enter until they owned it.

"Did we have until the 21st or not?"
You certainly did.

Possession of the house was to be given by 9-4 and of garage by 9-21.

They cannot enter the garage before 21st. But how they were able to open the garage? Didn't you keep it locked? Or did they break the locks?
