Quitclaim deed of a Timeshare

Posted on: 04th Aug, 2008 06:57 am
I have a buyer of my timeshare (paid in full) and looking to do a quitclaim deed. My problem is the timeshare is located in Charleston,SC, I live in NC and the buyer lives in Philadelphia. How do I go about this transfer?
Hello Ryan,

Are you handling this as a regular real estate sale? The sales/Real Estate laws of the state the property is located in will have to be verified & followed.

The funds can be wired to you & the quit claim can signed & notarised (be sure to sign in front of the notary) then recorded in the county where the property is located.

Are you using an agent or attorney to coordinate all of this?

I decided to hire an attorney to handle this. I don't want to make any mistakes and have problems. I want to get out from underneath this timeshare. Thanks for your reply.

Welcome back Ryan.

You are on the right track. An attorney is certainly the right person to handle this issue but make sure that he doesn't mess up things; just keep in touch with him so that you know the deed is notarized and recorded at the County recorder's office, off course in the County where your timeshare is located.
