Do both original title holders have to sign a quit claim deed if only one wants to remove their name from the title?

i have a timeshare with my former spouse and both of our names are on the title. the yearly assessment is due and it is my ex's turn to pay this year. he has just informed me that he no longer wants to the property and will not pay the assessment. he is filing a quit claim deed to remove his name. can he file this quit claim deed without my signature/approval?
yes, his is the only signature required on a quit claim deed. he will sign as grantor, and you will be the grantee (recipient of his ownership interest). the deed itself should be delivered to you for recording.

it sounds like you are not in agreement with this situation, though. you could refuse it, of course.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. You are correct, I do not agree, unless until he pays this year's assessment. He should have informed me before this payment was due. So, if I refuse the quit claim, can he name not be removed?

yes...nobody can force you to accept the transfer of ownership.
