transfering a property and a property title

Posted on: 13th Aug, 2010 09:05 pm
I bought a house from my sister , I want to change the property and the title to my name, a friend told me that I can fill a quitclaim form, get it notarized and take it to the court house , but I'm not sure if this is a good way to do it.
Hi Guest,

If the property has a mortgage on it, then your sister needs to sign a quit claim deed in your favor and transfer it to you. You can then get it recorded at the county clerk's office to make it valid. If the property is free and clear, then you can ask your sister to use a warranty deed in order to transfer the property to you.

Thanks
