Does the Grantor or Grantee pay transfer tax on consideration amount?

Posted on: 16th Mar, 2009 01:39 pm
consideration amount is quite considerable and is listed on the quit claim deed.
property is located in ga; we're both residents of ga.
Hi Guest,

Either the grantor or the grantee can pay the transfer tax on the consideration amount. Usually, it is the grantor who pays the tax as he is the one who receives the consideration amount in return for signing the deed. Howevedr, there is no such rule and either of the grantor or grantee or both can pay the taxes.
