Undoing a Quick Deed Transfer of a House

Posted on: 09th Nov, 2010 04:13 pm
Hi. I have a patient who is at end of life. She has an adult disabled daughter and elderly husband. She told her nurse she recently signed over her home to her caregiver. Now, the patient is asking her nurse if she knows how she can get her house back as she no longer trusts her caregiver. This caregiver has been doing things that are ethically very questionable, if not criminal.

The patient lives in Alaska. Thank you for any thoughts you may share on this situation.
Hi ElaineLoomisOlsen,

The caregiver has to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property back to the patient. Once the caregiver does so, the patient will become the owner of the property once again.

Thanks

Thanks. That was my guess, but I wasn't sure. It will be interesting to see if the caregiver agrees to do that. I guess if she doesn't we will have to involve the Adult Protection Services. Hmmm. Well, thanks again!
