I hold title to a small free and clear lot located in a distant county here in Florida. I don't want the liability of owning the lot, and have been unable to sell it.
Is it possible to dispose of it by deeding it to the county in which it is located. If I stopped paying the taxes they would eventually take it anyway, but that would take years. So what if I just stopped paying the taxes and saved the county a lot of legal expense by just deeding it to them.

Hi johnnorton,
If you stop paying the taxes, then the county can place a tax lien on the property. This will have a negative mark on your credit report. I would suggest you to list the property in the market or contact a real estate broker and try to sell off the property.
Thanks
