Quit Claim Deed

I recently married and my husband owns a house in his and his deceased wifes name. How do we add my name?
Hi Lisa,

You can add your name to your husband's property by the quitclaim deed. In the deed, your name would be added as co-owner along with the existing owners of the property.
After filing the form, get it recorded in the county's recorder office.

hi lisa,

welcome to mortgagefit discussion board.

how your husband & his deceased wife held title to the house?

if title was held as joint tenants then your husband automatically gained ownership after wife's death. but he will have to file certified copy of her death certificate with county authorities.

if title was held as tenants in common then any will she made will have to go through the probate procedure. after which your husband will get full ownership.

after your husband gets full ownership he can use a quit claim deed to add you to the title. right now if deceased wife's share of ownership is not transferred then your husband will be able to include you as a co-owner to the part ownership he has over the house.

do let me know if you have any other questions.

thanks
blue
