Quitclaim is no good

Posted on: 02nd Jul, 2008 10:14 am
My husband and I purchased a piece of land in SC from this guy who purchased it at the tax auction. He knew we were planning to put a home on this land from the very beginning. We can not get title insurance on the land until after 10 years of the purchase date from the tax auction.

Is there another alternative to this? I have researched and they person who owned it before he purchased it is deceased.

The attorney who did the quitclaim said we could now pay $6000 and wait 90 days to get a general warranty deed.

Any advise because now I am very depressed and ready to just give up because I just spent over $1000 to get the land cleared for my house!!!

Thanks,
Mrs. Confused
Different states have different laws. Getting a clear title that in insurable is important talk to a second atty and see if their info jives and go with the cheaper.

Or wait the 10 years?
Good luck
