Quitclaim Deed

Posted on: 01st Aug, 2007 08:56 am
I will be quitclaim deeding my portion of my jointly owned house to my ex-husband. Can at any time after that is done I be required to pay any repairs on anything that is wrong with the home presently or might go wrong in the future? The house is in the state of Florida.
Hi Razzy,

After the deed is made out you will not have any responsibility over the house. If the deed is properly notarized and recorded with county recorder's office it will transfer all rights over the house in your ex-husband's name. You will not have to pay anything for the upkeep of the house it will for your ex husband to maintain the house.

hi razzy,

welcome to mortgagefit discussion board.

as miller has already stated after the quit claim deed is made you will not have to make any payments towards repairs, property taxes or anything else related to the house. your ex husband will be the sole owner and he will have to pay for all the expenses related to it.

if want more information about quit claim deeds then please go through this following page: transferring property-interest through quit claim deed

do let me know if you have any other questions.

thanks

Hello Razzy,

Once you has quitclaim your share of the property to your ex-husband, all the responsibility for the house goes to him. And incase of any repairing of the house in future, you don't have to bother about any payments. He will only have to bear all the expenses further.

razzy,

You can use the Floida quitclaim form available in the statewise listing of such forms. But get the form reviewed by an attorney as it's a sample form as approved by the state of Florida. But you may have to make chnages on it as per the transfer of your property.
