i recently received the interest from a quit claim deed and the house and property had been sold at auction before that. my question is do i still own a part of the property and how can i find out how much of this property i own and how do i go about selling my part as the property is in fla. and i'm in ky. i'll appreciate any help on how to find out about this.
Hi Peejo,
Welcome to the forum.
Is there any co-owner to the property? What sort of property ownership is it? Is it a joint tenancy or a tenancy in common?
At first, you should find out all these details. After knowing the form of ownership, you should get an appraisal done on the property. Then you will be able to find out your share of the property.

Myself and another lady were both put on the quit claim deed by my dad who passed away, she is deceased so her heirs will get her part of the interest. The house was auctioned off for past taxes and was purchased by someone but I had someone I don't know send me a certified letter wanting to buy my part of the property for a measley amount. I haven't a clue to what part I own. He said in the letter that the property didn't have a clear title because I own a part of it. I had thought about contacting the person who bought the property at auction but was trying to find another way to get information on just what part I own. The property is in Fla. and I live in Ky.
You will have to check property records at the county recorder's office to know who owns it at present and if your name is also mentioned in property records.
Hi Peejo,
To know your share of the property, you have to go to the County Recorder's office where the deed was recorded. From there you will come to know your share of the property ownership. After knowing this, it all depends on you whether you will allow that person to buy your share or not.
