My mom recently died, prior to death she quit claimed deeded the house to me and my siblings. It was complted at a lawyers office and stamped and notorised. Do I have to take it to the county and have it recorded? I would rather wait till prior to sale before the house gets recorded?
Hi,
You have to record the deed in your County Recorder Office; otherwise it will not be a valid deed. The time limit for recording the deed varies from state to state. So you can wait to record the deed until the time limit is over. It is better to record it sooner than later.
Thanks,
Larry
