Can the Lender add a Co-Borrower to Existing Loan

Posted on: 13th Feb, 2009 07:25 am
I refinances our home in 2006 as the sole borrower on the new mortgage. At the time, my husband was not working. As of this morning, the lendor has added my husband's name and information onto my loan as a co-borrower! Can they legally do this?
not in my estimation they can't. who advised you of this information, and how did they explain it?

I agree with George. I have never heard of something like that. You can't just add someone to a loan without refi'ing. How did you find out?

I would get a copy of the closing docs and take a good look at what he signed.
