i started a refinance on my home which wound up taking a while to go through. as i spoke to more people i realised that the closing costs were higher than average, and this really wasn't going to save me any money. because things were taking so long the broker kept saying how the appraisal would expire, etc. and we'll have to start all over. as it progressed i decided i don't want to go through with it. they just called me tuesday and told me to make an appointment with their lawyer to close on monday. can i back out of this, and what would i be responsible for paying?

Hi skfranklin,
You can definitely cancel your refinance application now as you haven't signed any documents. If you've already signed the documents, you'll get 3 business days to cancel the agreement. In such a case, the lender may or may not charge certain fees.
Thanks

skfranklin, you would be responsible for any third party work that has already een done AND it is reasonable that you would also be responsible for an application fee. Some of those third party fees are as follows...
Appraisal, Title work - if completed already, credit report
