my partner of 18 years and i are separating. i can remove her name off the deed by a quick claim deed but is it absolutly necessary to refinance? she has no interest and i have been paying the mortgage for years. she has just filed bankruptcy.
If your partner's name is mentioned on the mortgage, then you'll have to refinance the mortgage to remove her from the mortgage docs. If her name is not mentioned on the mortgage docs, then you don't need to refinance it.
