deed transfer - refinance

Posted on: 26th Dec, 2009 03:59 pm
My husband and I refinanced a few years ago and the mortage company was supposed to file the name change from my maiden name to my husband and I. The mortgage company is now defunct as most are and it appears that the title was never changed.

How to I change the ownership to my husband and I at this point?
Hi dontomm,

You will have to sign a quit claim deed wherein your maiden name will be mentioned as the grantor of the property. Your married name and your husband's name will be mentioned as the grantees to the property. Once you fill out the deed, you will have to record the deed at the county recorder's office.

Thanks
