i received my home in a divorce and have been paying all the notes for as long as i have lived in the home. my divorce decree has been filed at the court house as well as the special warranty deed that was signed by my x husband. bank of america first said they could not do anything to change the name on the loan un less i do assumption when i applied for that they returned my money and application and said convetional loans did not qualify. i put over $36000 down on this home. i do not think my credit at this time would allow me to do a refinance. what now this madness has been going on for over 8 years
Hi ann,
If you have equity in the property and if you have the required credit score and income, then you should be able to refinance the existing mortgage and transfer it in your name. It is not mandatory for you to contact Bank of America for the refinance. You can even contact other local lenders for the same.
Thanks
