i have been married to my wife for 15 years. she presently has her name only on the mortage of our home which i have been paying on since our marriage. her credit score is bad and i want to refinance the house in my name only to get a better rate but she refuses as she thinks she will loose all intrest in the house if we were to divorce or i die. dosn.t ohio dower rights protect her?
for legal questions like that, your best bet is to query with a lawyer locally, or with your state's attorney general's office.
lenders wouldn't allow you to refinance by yourself without a change in title, of course.
