my husband and i have just been discharged from our chapter 13. we have a first and second mortage. what might are chances be a getting someone to refinance our 1st mortage. or would it be a waste of time to try. we have a bad credit score. my husband salary was cut 21% last may so we are struggling to pay our bills on time now. refinancing might help us. but don't know where to start.

Welcome maryradm,
You've mentioned that you've just been discharged of your bankruptcy filing. You won't be able to get a refinance immediately. You will have to wait for at least a year or two in order to get a refinance. Moreover, you also have a bad credit score. You should also take steps in order to improve it before applying for a mortgage refinance.

Adonis,
Thanks for you answer to my question. I had a feeling that is what we would have to do. I guess what's another year. And this bankruptcy one more year is not to long to wait.
Thanks Mary
