My husband left 1 1/2 years ago. I'm not getting any financial support from him. I am currently 3 payments behind on my mortgage, but I will be making a payment this week. Prior to this, I was never late on my mortgage. I have owned this house for 13 1/2 years. I just want to lower my payment so I can get ahead, but Litton Mortgage will not help. The house loan is in my name. I have been working for the same company for almost 32 years.
in order to refinance, lenders are going to require you bring the mortgage current first. although it may be difficult that may be your only shot at refinancing. it sounds to me like you may need to attempt a modification of your current loan. i hope this helps...
renae, it would occur to me that you need an advocate to work with you to see if you can obtain a modification. that would make far more sense than trying to refinance at this point, as james pointed out. you'd have to be current with payments to get such a new loan.
check on hud.gov to find a counselor who will be happy to work with you to try to obtain a modification of the existing mortgage. once you've achieved that, you can rebuild your credit standing to the point that you'll eventually be able to refinance. this process is not fast - be patient - but if you're intentional and you can get litton to work with you, it's eminently doable.

Renae58 ,
If you decide to refinance than you need to pay full amount that you have not possible.so dont go this way.
You have low credit, so you can decrease your payment amount and increase your days.
Better way take advoice from expert person .and then modify your plan as you will be benefit.
Thanks

Hi ZEE,
In my opinion, you should negotiate with your lender and try to sort out a payment plan with them. Inform the lender about your hardship and check out if your payments can get reduced.
Thanks
