Refiance a mortgage

Posted on: 14th Oct, 2009 02:24 pm
i have been divorced for six years my ex-wife currently lives in the marital home we purchased together fifteen years ago. she has remarried and wants to refinance the home in her and her new husbands name. she has asked me to sign a quit claim deed so she can refinance. i informed her that i am willing to sign the quit claim if she pays me $10,000 dollars. the home has a current equity of $80,000 dollars. she states the bank will not refinance unless i sign the quit claim deed first. what are my options.
Have a lawyer draw up a contract that states she will pay the $10k after you sign the quit claim deed and she refinances. Meanwhile, do not sign anything until you see that she has been at least pre-qualified for that cash out refinance.
