during my divorce my soon to be ex quit claimed the house to me. that was in 2004. i have been responsible for the mortgage ever since. now she is wanting me to refinance the property and get it out of her name. i cant afford to do that at this time. she says if i dont, she will take me back to court. can i be forced to refinance since she quit claimed property to me and it was not in the divorce papers to refinance? john
Hi Guest!

Welcome to forums!

If the property has been quitclaimed to you, then your ex will want to refinance the loan in your name. This will release her from the liability of paying the mortgage and she may be able to apply for another home loan. You can contact your divorce lawyer and discuss the matter with him. He will let you know whether or not you can be forced to refinance.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
