my ex-son-in-law signed a quit claim deed. my daughter had her house refinance several months later and had his name taken off the mortgage. he is now saying that when she refinanced, she basically sold the house to herself and she now owes him the difference betwee the appraised figure and the refinanced figure which his half would come out to $10,000. i haven't seen anywhere that refinancing is selling to yourself.
Basically yes which is why you do not need an attorney for a refinance.
