i've been divorced for 7 yrs and my ex was awarded the house as stated in our divorce decree. is ther anyway my name can be removed of the loan without my ex having to refinance the loan, because he refuses to do so
No. You would have to refinance and remove his name from the loan.
yup. Thats about it unless you sell the house.
he got the house in the divorce settlement, not me, and he has been living there since our divorce in 2003, and of course its affecting my credit score, and i cant buy a house because of it
karen, has he attempted to refinance? i suppose you could go back to the courts and ask that he be forced to sell or refinance in order to comply. that's not a pretty way to get things done, but sometimes, people are left with no other choice.
no, he refuses to refinanace, even though it may be better for him to do so. i dont know what to do. dont want to be going to court or be forced to sell, because the economy, no ne would buy it.
if he is economically able to refinance, you can go back to the court and request that he be so ordered - again. but you say "no one would buy it" in the current economy. why is that? is there no equity? if there's no equity, nobody will refinance the loan either.
