My husband and i paid a reverse mortgage to save my dads house after he died, now we are having trouble getting our money back from my family, what can we do? And do they have legal rights not to give our money back? Thank You
Hi gmr,
There is hardly anything that you can do in this regard. They are not legally liable to pay back the money to you. If all of them are heirs to the property, then all of them will be able to claim share in that property.
Thanks.

I strongly doubt that you had made any contract with your family members while paying the cash for the distressed home.
If you had done some sort of legal documents before paying the cash then there is some hope.

We did have a written contract that was notarized, the nortary said she was robbed, we asked for the police file#, still waiting, since 2007, i didn't think we needed another one
Since everyone agreed to the conditions, now it is a big mess, my family says they do not remember that part of the contract, we now have a lawyer and will be going through a partion action, by the way there is also the state that is going to be suing me and my family for a medical bill that is owed for my mother who also has passed away, and of course my family is refusing to pay the bill. What can i do, i am at a loss.

Hi gmr,
If you've ownership rights in that property, then you can apply for a partition lawsuit. Once the property is sold off, you will receive an amount equal to your share of the property. You can use that money to pay off the medical bills.

I am part owner as well as 6 others than me, 1 being my son, so if what i am hearing correctly, the 81,00 of what we paid to get the title back from the reverse mortgage is that me and my husband will not get all of the 81,00 back? Correct? How is that by having a partition action done, is this not guarranted we get all of our money back? Even the executor of the estate says we are intitled to our money back? What else can we do to retrieve all of our money back?
Hi gmr!
Welcome to forums!
As far as I know, in case of a partition lawsuit, all the owners of the property will get their share of money from the property sale. Thus, in your case, all the 6 owners of the property will be able to claim their share from the sale proceeds.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

all the people will get their amount as per their sharer in the property, If your and your husband may not get the full amount paid by you as your actual share may not be sufficient enough to pay the full money which you had invested early.
